You may notice my title is “Lead Happiness” and may wonder what that means in the context of our company? We consciously try to look at traditional HR activities through the prism of what would give our people the most joy. Let me share some examples of what we try.
Of course, this is a technology company and the people who work here are professionals. For people like this, performing well is a great source of joy. So, our role becomes to create an enabling and empowering environment that lets them do just that. We try to look at the various processes that impact their performance and try to remove any unnecessary friction.
Then, we try to integrate the passions of our people into the work they do by giving them opportunity as well as autonomy. This may be more than merely job-related. We are consciously interested in them as people, we want to know what interests them and makes them happy.
As a rule, we try to create opportunities for people to work together and collaborate across functions so they get the chance to be a part of a wider community that they can draw some joy and support when needed.
We believe that the happiest, most engaged people will deliver the best outcomes. My role is to be the catalyst to make that happen.
